Prospect Spotlight: Tylor Harris (2019)
Slidell guard Tylor Harris has a chance this coming season to really put himself on the map in terms of his recruitment.
He was second-team all district last season with the Tigers, and has been working hard this summer to improve for his upcoming junior season.
“My strengths as a player are shooting the ball at a high percentage, and seeing the entire court well to get my teammates involved,” the 5-foot-10 guard said.
“What I have to work on the most is getting to the goal more, and not always settling for the jumper. I’m getting better at that also.”
Harris played with NOLA Basketball Club this spring and summer during his 16U season, and averaged 18 points per game as a combo guard
He’ll take the momentum from his offseason into his junior season with the Tigers. Where he’ll have a chance to make turn some heads, and ultimately make some major life changes for himself.
“My junior year coming up at Slidell is very important to me. All I’ve ever wanted was to get noticed by college coaches, and I feel like I’m getting very close,” said Harris.
Though his recruitment has yet to actually start up, Harris feels he’s close to getting some long overdue notoriety.
“My recruitment hasn’t started yet. No school has ever contact me. I’m overlooked — always have been,” he said.
“My role this upcoming season is to stay consistent, and do what I do best. I come from nothing and I’m looking for a way out. My personal goals are to make first-team all-district, because last year I made second-team. Also, to get an offer. I want a offer so bad I can feel it.”
Harris added: “Recruitment is always on my mind. And for the next year my goal is to get an offer, because I would like to sign to a college to make my mom proud.”
