Prospect Spotlight: Markele Lilly (2018)
Class of 2018, 5’10, guard hailing from Garfield High School Markele Lilly can really get up and down the court and make plays for himself and others…
Markele has a good frame and athletic build. Nice strength. Like the physical tools with this 2018 point guard. He has potential to be a plus defender if he wants to lock in on that end of the floor. Solid ball handler that attacks in transition. Streaky shooter that far too often settles for jump shots from three when he doesn’t shoot it at that high of a rate. He is a lead guard that likes to dish the rock. Pesky on ball defender that has good leadership qualities. Good D2 prospect. He still needs to improve on his long-range shooting, which will come in time and with the right program he can really flourish into becoming a very good player.. He has a serious handle which enables him to blow by his defender and can finish with both hands at the rim.
I got a chance to catch up with the young man and ask him to describe his game and his current recruitment situation.
“I think what stands out most about my game is my playmaking ability. Whether it be to make the right pass or make a shot, I am capable. During this offseason, I have been working on my cardio. Running miles on the track so I can go two whole games if needed. I played for Team Fuego out of Newcastle Washington this summer and we did good. Recruitment is not looking so well for me only have preps schools interested but that is going to change.”
