Prospect Spotlight: Kinnon Finder (2019)
Utah’s 21st-ranked 2019, 6-foot-6 forward Kinnon Finder is becoming a big and versatile threat, that could warrant some scholarship attention very soon.
Right now, the Bonneville junior has not seen anything come in recruitment-wise. He’s hoping that will change this winter.
“I haven’t really gotten looked at or talked to by any school yet. No serious letters yet, no,” said Finder.
“I mean, coming up this last season, I didn’t think too much of it. But now, I feel like I’m kind of under the radar, and think that my name should be out there a little bit more.”
A power forward with the ability to both bang down low and take his game out to the perimeter, Finder defined his playing style during a recent phone interview.
“I’d say my strengths are that I’m a pretty good 3-point shooter for my size. And I’m pretty fast, I get to the hole pretty easy, I’m a good post scorer,” he said.
“Right now, I‘m more comfortable in the post and working my way out. And as I continue to grow and expand my game, I’ll work outside of the post and get a better handle.
This past spring and summer, with Cash Valley Elite 16U, Finder says things went well for him. And though he suffered a minor injury, he’s healthy and eager for his coming junior season.
“It went pretty good. I though I did really good being a leader and helping out my teammates. And I expanded my game a lot,” said Finder.
“I did suffer a sprained ankle in one of our tournaments, and had to go home and recover from that. But, now I’m all good and ready to go.”
With his junior season at Bonneville just a couple months away, Finder explained that this year’s new-look team might exceed some expectations.
“It’s going to be a totally new team, there’s only two seniors on the team and we’re in a different region. I’m excited to see how our team can pull through,” he said.
“I think people have used a team that’s not that good and we can’t really do anything, but I feel like we’ll make big impact this season.”
