Program MVP: Isaiah Rivera
Who was the MVP of each grassroots team program this past spring and summer? This might not necessarily be the best player although in many cases it is. We are looking at the player from Illinois that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
The breakout player for the Quad City Elite program this spring and summer was without question DJ Carton from Bettendorf High School in Iowa. He went from relative unknown to high-major prospect. For this purpose we only give our MVP to an in-state player. With that being said our QCE program MVP is Geneseo 2020 small forward Isaiah Rivera. This young wing was a player that we had heard some buzz about coming into the spring, but we had not been able to evaluate yet. He is an impressive prospect at 6’4” with a strong build while maintaining a solid level of athleticism. Rivera is an effective scorer at all three levels. Powerful finishing through contact is one of his best assets. Also shoots it well especially from mid-range off the bounce. Sound passer that plays a point-forward role at times. He has high-major ability early in the process.
In a QCE 15U game we caught Rivera go off on the backcourt at Homestead High School. He was simply dominant with his play. Rivera got to the rim finishing through contact and got to the foul line at a high rate. Hit an array of mid-range jumpers and threes. Also made multiple spectacular dishes in the half court finding teammates for clean looks.
Congrats to Geneseo 2020 small forward Isaiah Rivera on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Program MVP for Quad City Elite.
