Post Watch List
Mikey Frazier 6’9 C 2018 East
Frazier brings height and a soft touch to East basketball. His presence in the paint should assist this team greatly with having an improved season in 2017. He has a good motor and gets on the glass well. Further, his size makes him a force on the defensive end.
Matthew Van Komen 7’3 C 2019 Pleasant Grove
Van Komen is highly recruited and highly rated for a reason. A lot of bigs are recruited due to their potential. Although Van Komen has plenty of potential, he has a lot of skill at 7’3. His raw mixture of skill and size makes him a very intriguing prospect. Van Komen and Pleasant Grove will have a big year in 6A despite playing in a loaded region.
Darrian Nebeker 6’6 PF 2019 West Jordan
Nebeker was a very bright spot for Coach Briggs and West Jordan High School. After a solid sophomore year, Nebeker looks poised to have a monstrous junior season. Typically, it takes a post more time to develop than other positions. However, Nebeker put up solid production despite his youth.
Isaac Johnson 6’10 PF 2019 American Fork
Johnson has size and the ability to shoot the lights out. He averaged over 1 three pointer per game. Further, he hit 6 threes against Layton. With stretch 4s being more and more sought after, Johnson is making a name for himself as a highly sought after prospect. It is rare to find someone with his length and touch from deep.
Jason Ricketts 6’6 SF/PF 2018 Juan Diego
Ricketts can play 1-5 at the high school level due to his size, speed, and skill set. However, his game most likely transfers to a combo forward at the next level. He is a force to be reckoned with and is extremely difficult to stop in transition. His strength and height enable him to be a versatile prospect who can have success on the block and on the perimeter.
Josh Jensen 6’7 PF/C 2019 Logan
Jensen is one of the two Logan posts who will be a big reason for the team’s success at the 4A level. Jensen was the lesser of the two bigs in terms of production. However, he has a year of varsity basketball under his belt and returns some skilled guards who can aid him in having more success. As he improves his skill set and motor, there is a lot of potential with this prospect.
Brayden Roberts 6’7 SF/PF 2018 Logan
Roberts had the more productive season out of the two posts from Logan last season. Roberts is not a true post, but his size enables him to play there as well. He was one of the most productive shooters on the team from last year. He can stretch the floor with the best of them. Further, he gets on the glass well and does a lot of the dirty work.
Majok Kuath 6’6 SF/PF 2019 Kearns
Kuath has a lot of upside. His length and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect. He is listed as a SF/PF. However, his high ceiling is largely contingent upon him being quick and athletic enough to bring length to the 2 or 3. With that said, he has a nice mid-range jumper and some good moves on the block. He has a smooth game.
Jackson Brinkerhoff 6’7 PF/C 2018 Lone Peak
Brinkerhoff will need to be a high impact player for Lone Peak to continue their successful ways this season. His team brings back one of the best backcourts in the state. If he can protect to the paint, finish around the rim, and get on the glass; Brinkerhoff is capable of making a huge difference for this team.
Dyson Frank 6’8 PF/C 2019 Jordan
Frank’s relocation to Jordan could end up making a huge difference for the Beetdiggers. They already brought back a lot of skill. Add in a NCAA Division I capable big and this could be a very special season for Jordan. Frank will make an impact immediately and have a huge role in this success.
