Manny Bates will make college choice on Friday!
On Friday morning around 10am, the recruitment ride will end for Manny Bates as he will be committing to the school where he will play out his college career. For those have been able to see his story, it’s truly amazing how far this young man has come in the past two years. We first saw Manny Bates prior to his sophomore season with Jack Britt HS, the term raw would be one of the first things that come to mind while watching him play. He was tall with long arms and big feet but he was still feeling his way out, especially on the offensive end of the floor. Defensively he had natural instincts which would lead to a high amount of blocked shots and rebounds, he spent a large amount of time working out with Coach Walker and the work paid off the following season and into the next summer.
Blowing up as a Prospect
The next year he would lace up his kick for Northwood Temple, teaming up with future ODU Monarch Michael Hueitt Jr. as well standout PG Jeremiah Morris, to play for Coach Corey Baker. Playing against some of the other top players in the state, he performed well and continued to have college coaches stopping in on a regular basis. His game had come full circle and he had developed into a very nice prospect who was cracking rankings nationally and become a priority recruit for numerous high major programs. After cutting his list two 5 he went through the process of taking his recruiting visits to Georgetown and NC State, after those two visits he decided that he was ready to make his decision , which leads us to where we are now.
NC State or Georgetown?
NC State is a program that clearly is on the rise, their new Head Coach, Coach Keatts has been on the trail hard since he got the job and is on a mission to put NC State back on the map as a top team. Georgetown now has one of the best big men to every play the game leading their squad in Head Coach Patrick Ewing. Ewing has also hit the trail hard, already offering several top prospects in the state of North Carolina for 2018 & 2019. Both schools clearly have strong selling points but in the end only one school can get the commit, who will it be? Stay tuned tomorrow at 10am to find out.
