Intro: Anthony French (2019)
Class of 2019 point guard Anthony French hails from Zion Benton and is in the mold of many other ZB guards. He is tiny at only 5’8”, but can flat go! The 2019 point guard pushes the tempo and loves to shoot the pull up three. That is his go to especially in the transition game when he has his opponent on their heels. The lefty is a pesky on ball defender that has active hands.
He chatted with us about playing with the Illinois Stars on the PowerAde Circuit.
“The spring and summer went good. We keep pushing and trying to win. Get better and better each day.”
French broke down his game.
“I feel my strengths are contributing to whatever my team needs me to do. If that is defense that is what I will do. If that is scoring I will do it. I look to push the tempo, not turn the ball over, get in the paint to dish, and try to find my teammates. Make all of us look better.”
Anything going on with recruiting?
“I have heard from Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, and IUPUI.”
He chatted about a pair of those schools starting with IUPUI.
“They communicate with me a lot and come to a lot of my games.”
Western Illinois has a connection to French with a current player on their roster.
“They reached out too. I like their campus too. Christopher Duff is a real good friend of mine so I might take a visit out there soon.”
