Impact Transfer: Jamal King (2019)
Over the years of scouting high school basketball games I’ve had the privilege of watching a high amount of players of various talent levels. Some of these players were the type that you had to watch a few times to see what they really did well and then there were others that you didn’t have to watch for a very long to notice how good they can possibly be. Jamal King was one of those players that I only had to watch for a few minutes before I realized how special of a player he was and can be.
Of course I had seen some short highlights of him playing but my first time seeing him play live was against Trinity Christian at John D Fuller Center. On one of his first possessions of the game, he split the double team at the top of the key, and threw down a thunderous jam in traffic. He played very well throughout the game and showed how special he could be on both ends of the floor, although his team came up short he was without a doubt a top 2019 prospect in the state.
Fast forward a few months and the news was made official that he had decided to transfer in to Word of God Christian which is a program that is very rich in basketball tradition and has an alumni list full of D1 players. The Rams play a very intense schedule which provides a tremendous amount of exposure, this type of schedule will only benefit King has he is somewhat under the radar right now but will be seen by a high amount of college coaches.
He’s received interest from numerous D1 Mid-Major and High Major programs but the lack of offers that he has is something that is truly surprising to be honest. However that will change sooner than later, he has a strong body and an even stronger skillset, schools should be all over him. Most importantly he’s a great kid and respectful young man who is all about team goals.
