A Closer Look: United Faith Christian Academy
United Faith Christian Academy in Charlotte will have the tools to be a force in the 1-A division of the NCISAA this season. Head Coach Josh Coley has some talent at every position this year and is coming off of a quarterfinal appearance last season in the playoffs and a 25-5 record.
Leading the offense is senior Rafael Jenkins, a 5’9 PG. He plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and doesn’t back down from any challenge. When you combine his silky smooth handle with the ability to finish around bigs and his ability to knock down the trey ball, a player that colleges at the D1 level should definitely be on. He has an offer from Northern Arizona and some interest from Lipscomb, Stetson and The Citadel.
Brett Swilling is a 6’6 SF that can play multiple positions, rebound the ball, score on many levels, and has a great work ethic. Eastern Washington has been expressing interest recently.
KC Hankton, a 6’9 forward comes from a strong bloodline athletically, has gifted size, can finish well in transition, strong and long. Gets hands and arms in passing lanes. A knock down shooter from the three-point line that doesn’t miss many. Toledo is the latest to offer to go along with Charlotte, Eastern Washington, Kent State and Utah State.
A new addition for United Faith is Jaylen Sims, a 6’6 shooting guard. Sims is one of the best shooters in the state. True 6’6 guard with a great body and frame. Plays downhill and can knock down the mid-range and 3-point shot consistently. Super athletic and handles like a PG. High basketball IQ and always makes the right play. Incredible work ethic and a great teammate. Has offers from Minnesota, East Carolina, Wofford, Rhode Island, Towson, American and Boston among others.
2019 forward Sam Wolfe is a stretch four-man that can knock down the shot from the pick and pop. He is long and athletic and should start to garner some attention as the season progresses.
