CISAA Preview and Notes
Here is our predicted order of finish for the CISAA Conference of the NCISAA.
CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (CISAA)–3A
Providence Day School– The 2016 NCISAA 3-A state champs will still have three 2018’s ranked highly in the state of NC. Devon Dotson is ranked 2nd, Trey Wertz is ranked 10th and Isaac Suffren is ranked in the top 25. Dotson has narrowed his list to Kansas, Florida and a long shot is Clemson. Sophomore Luke Stankavage will be back at 100% after suffering a knee injury in February of last season. The Chargers will play another brutal schedule on the national level.
Cannon School– Cannon School returns one of the top players in the state with 6-foot-8 Jairus Hamilton who has nearly 20-plus Division One offers including North Carolina, California, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and many others. Qon Murphy, a 6-foot-5 scoring wing returns for Cannon School and will officially visit IUPUI this weekend. Cannon School has one of the toughest schedules that they have had in a while and should pay off come March.
Charlotte Country Day-Return 6’5 DeAngelo Epps ’19 – All-Conference last season as a sophomore. Team’s leading scorer. Very versatile player who plays the 1, 2 and 3 for us. Extremely athletic. Being recruited by UNCG and East Carolina. Both schools will be out in the fall to watch him at workouts. Played AAU with Team United. Also returning, 6’0 Alex Tabor ’19 – Team’s best shooter. Lead team in three pointers made last season. Very quick release and moves well without the ball. High academic kid. Receiving Ivy League and Patriot League interest. Played AAU with Team Loaded 704.
5’9 Rylan McLaurin ’19 – Starting PG. Lead team in assists and steals. Won Defensive Player of the Year for his team. Outstanding ball handler with great court vision. Played AAU with Team Loaded 704 and 6’0 Myles Browner ’19 – Combo guard that also defends the ball well. Very good mid-range shooter, who also plays PG at times. Made buzzer beating three pointer to send game into OT in last season’s win over Covenant Day.
Charlotte Christian-JC Tharrington and Blake Preston (Liberty commit) will look to lead Charlotte Christian with the loss of some seniors and the transfer of Virginia Tech commit BJ Mack looming over the season. Tharrington is one of the top 2019 prospects in the state and is being recruited by regional schools. Preston is a solid big man that will suit up for The Liberty Flames in college.
