UNCP Elite Camp Stock Risers
Throughout the camp we saw a lot of talent but there was three youngsters that we really felt raised their stock throughout this event. You can expect these youngsters to pick up interest from colleges at multiple levels over the next few months.
Cape Fear HS Guard Shaq Angel: Shaq was another youngster that broke out during camp, he has tremendous athletic ability and a high amount of untapped raw talent. He can score the ball from every level and still looks like he may have a late growth spurt in him. On the defensive end of the floor, he blocks shots exceptionally well for a guard and is what some would call a pesky defender. With former Fayetteville State Coach Kee taking the job at Cape Fear, he will be getting the opportunity to be coached and we expect that to help him to get reach more of his potential.
Midland Valley HS (SC) 2018 Guard Anthony Ray: One of the top performers at the event, not many in the building knew who he was prior to the first game but by the end of the day he had just about everyone asking who he was. He has a nice long wingspan to go with his height and can knock down shots from three point land pretty efficiently. He understands how to get from Point A to Point B when handling the ball and is a tremendous athlete. To be honest I lost count of how many times he finished monster dunks in the paint or when he blocked or altered shots, just an overall impressive day for this young man.
New Hanover HS 2018 Forward Josh Aldrich: Josh is a 6’6 youngster with a very nice skillset, when he’s playing with his high school squad he spends more time in the post but in this event he got to show more of his wing skills. He can stretch the floor very well with his perimeter shooting and solid ball handling skills, high D2 and D1 programs have taken interest and he should be receiving offers soon.
