Top Priority-Devon Dotson
One of the top point guards in the country, Devon Dotson of Providence Day has had a busy summer and with school now starting, nothing has slowed down. PrepHoopsNC’s Justin Byerly takes a look at his recruitment over the past month and what the future holds.
Dotson has already visited Arizona, The Wildcats were a player in the Dotson sweepstakes but were ultimately taken off his list after PG Jahvon Quinerly committed to Sean Miller this month.
Dotson went on an official visit to Florida this past weekend along with Silvio De Sousa. De Sousa committed to The Jayhawks today. Bill Self is a great recruiter can get top level talent to Lawrence, Kansas year in and year out. He has made Dotson a priority at the PG spot and would ultimately take over after Devonte Graham graduates this coming spring. Another piece to the puzzle is Zion Williamson. The ultra-athletic Williamson and Dotson teamed up on the Adidas circuit in Las Vegas with SC Supreme and they both love each other’s game.
Dotson will visit Florida in the coming week. His dad, Dana Dotson said. “He is going to Florida on September 8th and then we have nothing else set in stone”, he said.
Maryland is considered a long-shot at this point in his recruitment but still may get a visit. Hs aau teammate, Aaron Wiggins recently committed to Maryland. Clemson is also still in the mix for both Dotson and Williamson. Clemson has a shot at getting one of his five official visits.
I would be surprised to see Dotson not pick Florida or Kansas at this point. At Florida he could come in and be a big piece of what Mike White is trying to establish in Gainesville. White was one of the first programs to recruit Dotson and Dotson remembers that. At Kansas, Dotson would have a good chance of teaming back up wth Williamson for at least one season in Lawrence.
