Recruiting Report: Jason Williamson (2019)
Jason Williamson of Owatonna is a top five football prospect in Minnesota and was named first team all 16U. Jason is one of 2019’s best.
And as one of the best Jason played with one of the best. WOTN Swedburg went 33-10 this year and was ranked third overall in 16u.
“This last year was really fun and it was my first AAU season,” Williamson told Northstar Hoops. “Last year I was ready to play and found out I had a fracture in my spine so I had to sit out that summer, and this year I finally got to play and had a lot of fun and got to compete at a high level and I felt like I improved a lot over the summer.”
Jason was one of the best on his Wear Out the Net Squad but he wants to be more of an all around basketball player.
“I would like to be able to have a more consistent three point shot as well as a more consistent off-the-dribble pull-up from mid-range,” Jason said.
The Owatonna Huskies have big goals this year. Big scorer Dalton Kubista, frontcourt active Andrew Jackson, every improving prospect Nolan Malo, worker guard Alex Raichle, and of course Williamson, they are all back in blue and silver.
“We are looking pretty good, we have five guys coming back who played a lot of minutes last season, and over the summer in team tournaments we’ve clicked pretty good. I have high hopes for us.”
As you can see in the photo linked with this story Jason has been to Minnesota on a football visit. He’s the fourth ranked football prospect in Minnesota and basketball wise he will be a top 25 area player.
“The only school I’ve heard from for basketball has been Winona State, and for football I’ve heard from Minnesota State-Mankato, Minnesota, and Wyoming,” Hason said.
So what does Jason want to accomplish individually this year as a junior?
“For football I want to be an all state running back and for basketball I would like to make an all conference team.”
