Recruiting Report: Jared White (2019)
Jared White, a class of 2019 wing at St. Stephens & St. Agnes, is a strong candidate to break out this season. The 6’7 rising junior is coming off a strong summer with Mid Atlantic Select, and looks ready to build off the progress he’s made.
“My game is kind of like a stretch 4. I can shoot outside and post up, I’m a big guard on the perimeter but a small big inside,” said White of his overall game. “One thing I do that most people don’t probably see is my offensive rebounding, I’m always on the offensive boards.”
At Summer Takeover, White made a significant play, which included an offensive rebound. As he continues to grow into his body, the high IQ wing has seen his game evolve in a variety of areas. White is still not satisfied, and continues to work every day to improve.
“I’ve been working on a lot of things, but I think my most improved part of my game is my pull up jumpshot,” White explained. “Right now, the most important part of my game I’m trying to fix is my athleticism. Just being able to jump higher and move faster.”
White has one offer from JMU. Radford, UMBC, Elon, Rhode Island, St. Francis, Colgate, and Holy Cross are among those who have him on their radar. What can White bring to a college program?
“What I think I can bring to a college program is rebounding and scoring. Those are the main things I’m good at, and scoring implies making things happen not just for myself but for my teammates. I’m a great passer and I’ll find the open man.”
Expect White to be an integral part of a new look Saints team this upcoming season, and a breakout performer in the IAC. Don’t be surprised to see his recruitment expand in the process.
