Recruiting Report: Brandon Adelman (2019)
Brandon Adelman led an improved New London-Spicer team in scoring and assists last winter. He followed that up with a nice year for the Minnesota Comets 16u team.
“This year went well for the team and me personally,” Brandon explained about this AAU summer. “I think we meshed well as a team especially as the season went on and I think that helped us a lot because we played well together on the court.
“My biggest takeaway from this year was probably that there are a lot of guys out there with talent and that want to play at the next level so you can never stop working on your game, because as soon as you settle other guys will pass you up.”
The Comets biggest accomplishment was winning the 16u level of the NY2LA Basketball League. The Comets Stumpf squad went 31-13 and Brandon learned about the things he wants to do better.
“Everything honestly,” said Brandon. “I want to improve all parts of my game. But more specifically I want to get more athletic and bigger in the weight room.
“I’m also going to work on getting my handle tighter and shot more consistent from all over the floor. And aside from the physical part of my game I really want to become a better leader for my team coming into this year.”
New London-Spicer will be young but the expectations are there.
“We lost three key seniors from last year so that will make an impact obviously, but we also have a lot of talent coming up in my grade and we have some seniors also that will help us,’ Brandon said.
“We are all excited for the season and have high expectations. Our goal is to make it to the state tourney. We know that it’ll take work but I think we are all bought in to what we got to do to get there.”
Brandon’s play with the Comets and his 16.4 points and four assists a game as a sophomore in high school have schools interested.
“Schools that have contacted me the most are North Dakota, Jamestown, U of Sioux Falls, Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, Concordia-St. Paul, and Winona State,” Adelman listed.
As an upperclassmen Adelman wants to show he’s a quality all around player.
“I want to impact the game on both sides of the floor,” Brandon said about the upcoming winter. “On offense I want to obviously score the ball, but also I want to get my teammates involved and really improve on my assist and rebound numbers.
“And then on defense I want to be more improved on ball and off ball. Also getting to the defensive glass a lot. I just want to do anything I can to help my team win.”
