Prospect Spotlight: Ty Anderson (2020)
North Scott has been one of the most successful hoops programs in the state since we started this website in 2014, and there’s no question that young talent like 6-foot-4 wing Ty Anderson will keep that winning tradition afloat in the coming years.
A rising sophomore, Anderson dressed and played some with the Lancers’ varsity last winter, and recently wrapped up his 15U campaign with the Iowa Barnstormers.
We recently caught up with the rangy small forward, and he defined his skill-set and how he likes to make an impact on the floor.
“I’m more of a drive and kick player, and I can shoot a little bit. I have good touch around the rim,” said Anderson.
“I like being out on the wing area, and my size helps me get to the hoop from there, and it helps me rebound quite a bit.”
After spending his spring and summer with one of the Midwest’s best 15U teams, Anderson says playing with some of the state’s other best players makes things easier for him.
“We’ve been traveling all around, going to different tournaments. Playing with these guys is really fun. When you have a point guard like Bowen (Born) and a big like Evan (Brauns), it makes things easier,” said Anderson, who mentioned what he worked on most this summer.
“I’ve improved on scoring the ball more, and I’ve been working on shooting mostly.”
As he heads into the latter half of his offseason, Anderson mentioned what he’s looking forward to this fall and winter as a sophomore with the Lancers.
“I hope to be in the starting lineup, and we should do pretty well this season,” said Anderson, who mentioned his goals.
“A state championship. I don’t really set goals for myself, it’s more just about the team.”
