Prospect Spotlight: Rodney Munson (2019)
Currently checking in a No. 14 in Louisiana’s 2019 rankings, 6-foot guard Rodney Munson has some changes coming his way this season.
Formerly a De La Salle product, he’ll be headed to Bonnabel next season, where he’ll presumably spend his final two high school years.
“I know a couple of the guys on the team already. I hope that I can continue to become a better player there,” said Munson. “I hope to have a big role and to play well together with the other guys.”
The Bruins will be getting a talented offensive player, who is working this offseason to improve on the defensive side of the ball.
“On the offensive side I can score and I can pass, I like to get my team involved. I’m a pass-first type point guard even though I can score when I want to,” said Munson.
“On the defensive side, I lack sometimes. Right now, I’m working on my legs, and I’ve been working on my defense a lot, doing sliding drills and things like that.”
Munson just wrapped up his 16U season, he played with Elfrid Payton Elite and NOLA 23. But. despite his high-ranking from PHLA, his recruitment has still yet to really begin.
Texas State inquired about him, that’s the only recruitment he’s seen come in. Seeing his recruitment pick up is one of his goals for his forthcoming junior season.
“I’m just trying to be a better player than I was last year, and to get a couple offers,” said Munson. “I really want to pick up some offers, that’s one of my goals.”
