Ohio Top 250 Expo Preview: Early Sign-Ups
We’re excited about September 9th! It’s going down all day long at Pickerington North High School.
From 3-7:30pm, the classes of 2018 and 2019 will take their talents to the hardwood. With all of the hard work they’ve been putting in behind the scenes, here comes a golden opportunity to present their games to scouts.
Because we cannot contain our excitement much longer, we’ve decided to share it with you and roll out a preview of the players who have already signed up for the Ohio Top 250 Expo. There’s still plenty of time to sign-up, but here are a few of the early entrants that we’re excited to evaluate come the second Saturday of September.
Curtis Clinger (2018), 6’4” G, Thomas Worthington
Clinger will likely impress in shooting drills, which will surely carry over to gameplay, where he’ll space the floor. Also, Clinger could stand-out to scouts with toughness. If a smaller guard gets stuck on him, expect Clinger to put his back to the basket and be a playmaker from there. Basically, he should be one of the seniors that brings the energy.
Tariq Brown (2018), 6’6” W, Eastmoor Academy
Brown’s finishing ability should shine at Pick North on the 9th. On the break, Brown should draw attention with his athleticism. Defensively, Brown could likely be an asset to his group because of flexibility — he’s a long athlete who can defend any spot for a possession.
Jaiden Woodley (2018), 6’6” F/C, Maumee Valley Country Day
Woodley tore up the Northern Ohio Elite Showcase, and we expect him to roll into the Top 250 with that same confidence. His movements in the painted area become stronger and more fluid every time we see him, so we hope that his improvements continue trending in the right direction.
Woodley picked up a Central State offer late in the summer.
Michael Reeves (2018), 6’7” F/C, Gahanna Lincoln
Reeves is an underrated post prospect from the central Ohio that could strongly benefit from a strong showing during the Top 250. He has the tools to blossom into a small college rim-protector because of his strength and leaping ability.
Harrison Gough (2018), 6’8” F/C, Lima Bath
Gough could separate himself from the other post players at the Expo because of his feet at 6’8”. The small-town kid tends to look comfortable away from the basket, even with the ball in his hands. Coaches: circle his name, because we expect him to go to college on a basketball scholarship when the high school career concludes.
Sean Marks (2019), 5’10” PG, Olentangy
Marks is a player we didn’t see often enough during the grassroots season. He’s a sharp-shooter, so there’s little doubt that his best skill won’t translate. But we’re also curious to see if he’ll control his squad and show true point guard qualities.
Trey Syroka (2019), 5’10” PG, Whitmer
It seems that Syroka has impressed at every Elite Camp and tournament he’s attended over the past several months. All the skills are there. Syroka, even with a size disadvantage, has no troubles finding his spots. He scores from all three levels and his confidence should continue peaking in Pickerington.
Jacob Gudorf (2019), 6’2” PG, Brookville
Gudorf is a pass-first point guard who guys are going to love playing with. He seems to have a mature understanding of the floor, as we’ve seen him drive to pass excellently with Dayton Metro.
Payton Jutte (2019), 6’4” G/W, Fort Recovery
Jutte is a blossoming 2019 prospect whose length and shooting ability will both translate to the next level. His development of lateral quickness could determine which level of college player he’ll be — because it will be crucial to what position he’ll be recruited as — so we’re interested to see him on the defensive end on September 9th.
