Louisiana Top 250 Expo: Stock risers pt. 1
This past Saturday, we held out third annual Louisiana Top 250 expo, and it was a huge success. The building was absolutely loaded with talent going as hard as they absolutely could, and the results speak for themselves. We were able to get a look at some of the best players in the state go head to head against each other, in front of our staff, college coaches, and other members of the media.
This is going to be a list of player that were able to raise their stock, whether that be because we were able to check out their skills for the first time, or they have gotten that much better since the last time that we were able to see them.
Kabryn Allen 5’10 G David Thibodaux 2018
Allen has spent quite hit or miss the last couple of years, playing behind some really good guards at David Thibodaux, but he was impressive going against high level of competition this weekend. He is primarily a facilitator, but can score it when needed. He has some of the most impressive ball handling skills I have seen for his class. I can definitely see him as a small school prospect following high school.
De’Antray Hughes 6’5 F Edna Karr 2019
You are going to be reading a lot about Hughes following camp, because few players had as big of a rise as he did. He went from virtually unknown to one of the talks of the camp by spectators and coaches alike. He is able to run the floor very well, and was able to show off his elite athleticism. In the half-court, he was tough to handle, especially down low.
Xavier Roberson 6’5 F Woodlawn 2018
Xavier was another player that was right on the cusp of making the Top 10 list that was posted earlier this week. A few of the college coaches in the building were very impressed by what the saw from the Woodlawn prospect. He has a thick frame, and is able to use his brute strength to bully the opposition down low. He was surprisingly nimble and athletic for someone of his size, and was able to throw down a handful of dunks with some real ferocity.
Tyrease Terrell 6’3 G Northshore 2019
Terrell is a guy that I’ve gotten to see a bit of earlier in the summer, and it looks like he has put in some hard work this offseason. He has an absolutely pure shot, and was able to knock down a handful of jumpers from long distance. He also has excellent vision when attacking off the dribble, and was able to find players in space. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the combo of Terrell and fellow 2019 Northshore teammate 6’7 Moses Ngodock are able to do this season.
Bryce Parchman 5’11 G St. Paul’s 2019
This was my first time seeing Parchman, and I came away really impressed with what I saw. He is a very high IQ guard, and he is equally successful with the ball in his hands as he was playing off ball. Time after time, he was able to space the floor, and had a knack for losing the defense, allowing him to get off a smooth jumper that goes in consistently. If defenders tried too hard to run him off the three point line, he was better than expected at attacking closeouts and getting into the teeth of the defense, where he facilitates at a high level.
Bobby Baker 5’4 G Southwood 2019
Baker might not be the size you are looking for, but he does everything else on the court at a high enough level to make up for it. He is an absolute floor general, barking order to teammates on both sides of the ball, as he orchestrates his team around him. He can use his quickness to get around the defense, and is able to find open teammates in space. He does the little things really well, and he makes those around him better.
Patrick Werner 6’2 G Ascension 2018
I have seen Werner a handful of time of his high school career, and had the chance to really watch him develop, and he has come a really long way. He shoots the ball at a high level, but he has always been able to do that. What I was really impressed by was his level of aggressiveness, whether it was attacking the goal, attacking rebound, or attacking loose ball, he no longer plays with a hesitation that he had in years past.
