2018 PG Dakari Johnson is headed to Hoke County High!
Hoke County has had its share of basketball talent to come through , players like Tarique Thompson (Overseas Pro), Terrell McIntyre , Eric Maynor and many more. The school recently finished a very solid season with Silas and Jalen Love who are both college prospects and the Fayetteville Observer Region Player of the Year Dcoda Cummings.
Now the Bucks have made a big time pickup with the addition of Point Guard Dakari Johnson. Johnson has always lived in the Hoke County area but spent his first 3 years at private school, with 2 years at Northwood Temple and one year at Village Christian, helping them win the NCISAA 2A State Championship. Dakari is the type of player that you like to have on your team without a doubt, he brings that old school toughness to the court and doesn’t back down from any challenge or matchup.
What does he bring to the Bucks? Scoring, defense, ball security, high character on and off the court, and a winning mentality. There is no doubt about it that all the big time games that he’s played in over the years at private school will only help him to be able to handle whatever is thrown at him this season.
Q: What’s your expectations for the season?
Dakari: My expectations going into the season is to win. Make my team better and also to get better myself. Time to bring a state championship to Bucktown.
Q: How do you think you and the Love brother will gel?
Dakari: I think we will come together as one. I’ve been to open gym with them and we played well together. We are already cool so that makes it easier.
Q: What was the deciding factor in your decision to go there?
Dakari: The deciding factor was what school was going to give me the best opportunity. It’s my last year in high school so it has to be done with no regrets. Hoke has everything I need.
