2018 G Demetrius Mims cuts his list to four schools
2018 Poly/Team Melo guard Demetrius Mims has already made 2017 a memorable year. First was by winning the first state championship in program history all while compiling five new offers up to this point.
Mims has decided to cut his list of 11 schools down to four. With his senior season quickly approaching, Mims will ultimately hope to make his commitment sometime in early September.
Doing so prior to his season starting will allow him to focus solely on bringing the 3A state title back to Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. The 6-5 wing will be depended upon heavily to lead the Engineers, filling the leadership role that Dre Perry (Temple) left behind.
Without further ado, here are the schools Mims will continue to move forward with and why he felt it was necessary to choose them:
Lehigh: “Lehigh is a lot like my high school that I go to already. It’s a great academic school and they’re a winning program. I feel like I’d do good in the Patriot League and with the type of athlete I am I feel like I’d dominate that league. The coaches talk to me on a consistent basis and I’ve definitely been feeling the love from them.”
Towson: “I talk to all of the coaches a lot and they seem to really like me. They’re trying to keep me home. My family could watch the games if I was to go there. They have a coaching staff that pushes their players.”
Coastal Carolina: “I have a really good relationship with assistant coach [Patrice] Days. I feel a lot of love coming from him and Coastal Carolina. If I go there I know they’ll push me to get better every single day because that’s just what type of person he is.”
Long Beach State: “Long Beach offered me my sophomore year. They were one of the first schools to offer me and they never backed down. The love from them has been consistent throughout the whole recruiting process.”
Thoughts:
Wherever Mims chooses to go is getting a versatile guard. All four of these schools would lean on him to provide scoring and defensive tenacity. With his competitive mindset, Mims is going to push himself until he becomes key ingredient to the formula of the respective school. When it comes to Long Beach State, Mims draws a lot of similarities to Baltimore-native Nick Faust, who also played at Long Beach State. Both are long, athletic guards who can score at all three levels. Any of these schools will offer Mims the playing time showcase his talents, but more importantly, help him reach his full potential.
