Ohio updates – prospects on the move & getting offers
Seth Wilson (2021) 6’2” G, will indeed be playing this winter at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. Wilson, who is amongst the top 60 players nationally in his class and in the top 5 in the state, according to some sites, had been looking at Lakewood St. Edward, Westlake and Gilmour Academy.
Wilson and his family currently live in Westlake, so it’s still to be decided just what the living arrangements will be for Wilson. He averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for Burneson Middle School.
Wilson is coming off a weekend in which he performed well at a Made Hoops Tournament in Augusta, Ga.
So why St. V’s?
“Because of the education, because of the tradition of the program and we think it will best prepare him for the next level,” said Donovan Wilson, Seth’s father.
Dru Joyce II has assured the Wilsons he would remain at St. V’s for the next four years.
Wilson is a pure scorer. He is exceptionally strong and can bull his way to the basket, but uses exceptional ball-handling skills when doing so. He also has exceptional range on his jump shot and even at this young age is so strong he has no problem pulling up off the dribble from 3-point land and connecting.
According to Wilson’s father schools like Texas, Ohio State, UNLV already expressed an interest in Seth Wilson, but he’s yet to receive any official offers.
Guess gets another offer
Christian Guess (2018) 6’5” G, Shaker Heights, picked up an offer from James Madison this week after his strong performance at the Adidas Gauntlet.
Garfield Heights’ Meechie Johnson (2021), 5’11” PG hasn’t even logged a minute of high school basketball but already has an offer University of Maryland Eastern Shore, according to his coach and uncle, Sonny Johnson.
