NTBA Day 3 Standouts
Prep Hoops SC took in some action this week at the NTBA National Championships in Myrtle Beach, SC. Here are some North Carolina players that stood out in performance from the event.
Ja’Quail Brown (2018) – Ashbrook HS (Gastonia) / Carolina Sky
Brown is a freak athlete that likes to stalk the baseline and attack the basket whenever he has the chance. Brown a left-handed wing player averaged 9.1 ppg and 5.8 rebounds this past season at Ashbrook HS. Brown really excels in the transition game.
Shy’Qua GrimesShy’Qua Grimes (2018) – Legacy Charter (Greenville, SC) / Kinston Ballers
Grimes alters and challenges shots on the defensive end of the floor. Grimes 6’10 played last season at Legacy Charter and plans on returning this fall. Grimes started off at D.H. Conley HS (Greenville, NC) before going to Legacy Charter last season. Grimes has good length and runs the floor well. Grimes still must continue to develop his offensive game.
Dericko Williams (2019) – Kinston HS / Kinston Ballers (pictured on front)
Williams 6’7 was a man among boys at times here today. Williams ranked #12 in the Prep Hoops NC 2019 rankings usually plays AAU with Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL Circuit. Williams a great athlete also excels on the gridiron as a wide receiver/defensive end. Williams constantly has his motor running on both ends of the floor.
Williams a high level athlete finished everything around the rim today for the Kinston Ballers.
Xavier Kesler (2020) – Salisbury HS / Team FLY
Kesler 5’11 guard led the way most of the time for Team FLY. Kesler a combo guard has a nice mid-range game and at times will tend to force a shot. Kesler played with some swagger on the floor and really liked having the ball in his hands as much as possible.
