Midwest Summer Shootout: Iowa’s Sunday Standouts
2018 Parker Ingamells, 5’10 SG (Iowa Prep 17U)
It was Ingamells’ day Sunday in Ames. He canned five 3s in a dramatic Iowa Prep semifinal win over D1 Minnesota Prospects, including the game-tying 3 as time expired (see below). He has the savvy and presence of mind to make the right play more often than not, and is going to nail a ton of 3s for Hudson next season.

2019 Michael Vicente, 6’3 SG (Pure Prep 16U)
We’ve seen this Waukee rising junior as a shooter in previous viewings, and he hit a couple Js today in the game we saw. But what was most impressive was his lock-down defense on All Missouri Attack sharpshooter Jordan Farnsworth. Vicente’s size and length was giving the 5’9 Missouri guard fits, and was the reason Pure Prep won the gold division title.
2019 William Pattison, 6’3 SF (Pure Prep 16U)
This Urbandale rising junior could make an impact next season with the J-Hawks due to his size and versatility. We list him as a small forward because he’s able to step out and hit a 3-ball, but he’s also got the size and girth to handle himself in the paint. He scored a team-high 18 points in the 16U gold title game.
2020 Keegan Kohorst, 6′ PG (Iowa Prep 15U)
A confident floor general, this Mount Pleasant sophomore-to-be was the catalyst for an Iowa Prep team that won its semifinal game by 41 points. He’s a heady guard who’s just as likely to make a dazzling one-hand pass as he is to barrel his way into the lane where he draws contact exceptionally well.
2019 Andrew Gibb, 6’2 SG (All Iowa Attack 16U)
The more we see of this kid the more we like him. He’s without a doubt one the state’s best shooters, and over the next two years at St. Edmond could certainly establish himself as the definite best shooter in Iowa. When his team was down five in the second half, Gibb scored six points (3, steal, 3) in 10 seconds. He’s a killer.
2019 Luke Kavan, 6’6 C (All Iowa Attack 16U)
This Dowling junior-to-be is tall and big, but not so big he can’t move well (excuse the double negative). What’s most impressive about Kavan’s set of skills are his soft hands and touch around the rim. He’ll catch anything that comes his way, and has a beautiful stroke from the line. Big and skilled guys usually do very well in high school hoops.
2017 Jordan Magnani, 6′ G (Iowa Prep 17U)
What an offseason this Mount Pleasant rising senior is having. He had a great junior season, and at this rate will have a much better senior season with the Panthers. We’ve seen him probably four different weekends now this summer, and his ability to impact the game in every facet possible each and every time is certainly eye-opening.
2017 Alec Oberhauser, 6’5 G/F (Iowa Prep 17U)
College coaches should be clamoring over this tall and versatile guard. At 6-foot-5 he has no true position, but make no mistake, he’s more guard than anything else. He can handle it and shoot it adeptly, and is big enough to clean up the boards and be a menace defensively against smaller guards and wings. He’s a do-it-all guard, who will be one of Iowa’s most versatile players next season at Aplington-Parkersburg.
