Landry-Walker gets new basketball coach (Video)
Landry-Walker has become an absolute powerhouse since the merging of L.B. Landry and O.P. Walker in 2013. They’ve won LHSAA titles in Class 5A or 4A in three of the last four seasons and a new man will be in charge after the departure of legendary coach Brian Gibson.
After coaching on the high school level for more than 25 seasons, Gibson accepted the head coaching position of the men’s team at SUNO, where he once suited up as a player.
Gibson passes the torch to longtime pupil Wilfred “Coach Bird” Antoine, and the Charging Bucs aren’t expected to miss a beat. Gibson has been grooming Bird for the past couple of seasons for the role and leaves the new coach with a deep 2019 class that includes Dywan Griffin, Tory Cargo, Shadon Green, Ramon McGrew, Tyrus Crawford and Jason Joseph.
