ECI Team Camp: The Hardhat Crew (Best Hustle Players)
Every team needs a player or two on their squad that is not afraid to do some of what we call the dirty work. Things such as: fighting for rebounds, diving for loose balls, and taking charges, below are some of the players we saw at ECI that filled that role.
Heritage HS 2018 Forward Jayden Gardner: He’s pretty highly recruited at this point with a nice amount of D1 offers from programs across the coast. He showed why he’s so highly thought of as soon as the event started but dominating inside the paint, he scored on put backs, crashed the offensive boards, and blocked shots at a high rate.
Mount Pleasant 2019 F/C Ryan Bonnet: At 6’9 he is one that catches your attention almost immediately, he knows his role and performs it well by rebounding at a high rate. Also did an outstanding job of keeping the ball high when he rebounds it and quickly finding a guard.
Jacksonville HS 2018 F Tyler Hines: This is the first time that I got the chance to see Tyler play, he brought maximum effort all game long and has a frame that allows him to play the game in a physical manner. He’s still raw offensively but for this team he provides exactly what is needed at his position.
Northside HS 2018 F Jason Mixon: Northside has been known for its stellar guard play over the last few years but what should not be overlooked is the play of Forward Jason Mixon. At 6’4 with nice athletic ability, he does a very good job of rebounding the ball as well as finishing above the rim.
First Flight HS Zyon Demers: With a team that shoots as many trey balls as first flight does you need a player to crash the boards and do the dirty work. That’s exactly what he provides for his team, he came up with quite a few offensive rebounds and even though he’s only 6’1 he battled hard.
