Dayton’s Top 5 Rim Protectors

Some of Dayton’s best shot blockers are young guys with lots of time to continue their development. Here are the top 5 shot blockers in Dayton.
Thomas Arrington (2018)- Thomas is not known for his scoring but rather, is known for preventing scoring. Averaging 2 blocks per game, Thomas punishes opponents by preventing even the best post players from scoring on him. The Springboro Panther blocked 7 shots in one game, against Valley View early last season. If he can get some consistency in his scoring along with his dynamic shot blocking, Thomas can be a serious threat in the GWOC.
Duncan Hall (2019)- Duncan isn’t only known for his incredible rebounding. The Miamisburg junior recorded at least 1 block in all but one game last season. This combined with his 10 rebounds per game last season makes Duncan a low post weapon for seasons to come.
Justin Flor (2018)- Justin is an absolute monster defensively when it comes to blocks. Averaging 5 blocks a game, the Carlisle senior recorded 9 blocks in a game against Milton-Union a year ago. Flor led the SWBL in blocks a year ago, and combined with his strong scoring strengths, is an early favorite to be SWBL player of the year come next season.
Levi McMongle (2019)- A strong low post presence, Levi recorded 5+ blocks in a game four times last season, including 7 against Clinton-Massie. Levi finished 2nd in the SWBL in blocks and will likely be top 2 again next year. This combined with his scoring potential can make Levi an all-around star next year.
Justin Stephens (2019)- Arguably one of the best rim protectors in the area, Justin’s length makes him such a unique player. Stephens and his 3 blocks per game dominated opposing offenses all last season and was a major piece of Trotwood’s postseason success. Justin led the GWOC in blocks and will likely do it again in 2017-18.
