Dayton’s Top 5 Dunkers

Nothing is more exciting in a basketball game than a player throwing down a powerful dunk during the game. Here are Dayton’s top rim rattlers returning next year:
Myles Belyeu (2018)- One of my favorite dunks from Myles was a tournament game where he caught an alley-oop from Amir Foster while running baseline while the defense watched. Myles is only 6’2 but jumps like he’s 6’7. He truly is a rim rattler as the rim always shakes after he throws one down. Many of Myles’ 18 points per game came from dunks and many more will come in 2017-18.
Samari Curtis (2019)- He’s only a junior, but Samari dunks like he’s already a college player. He is incredibly lengthy and can dunk off one or two feet. At 6’3, Curtis has an incredible vertical leap and is not afraid to dunk over defenders. He is one of the top athletes in the state of Ohio and is already getting attention from high major DI programs.
Amari Davis (2019)- If Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are the “Splash Brothers”, then Amari and Myles Belyeu are the “Dunk Brothers”. At 6’4, Amari is a rim riser and finds ways to throw down dunks. Many of Amari’s dunks came from his defensive stops that resulted in breakaway dunks. Trotwood’s duo of Davis and Belyeu are capable of taking over games and bringing the crowds to their feet during Rams basketball games next season.
Andre Gordon (2019)- Gordon reminds me of Russell Westbrook when it comes to dunking. Standing at 6’1, Andre is Sidney’s most athletic player and truly gives definition to the word “rim riser”. Considering he’s only a junior, there is plenty of time for Gordon to demonstrate even more his tremendous ability and make a few Sportscenter Top 10 worthy dunks.
Caleb McConnell (2018)- One of my favorite dunkers last year, McConnell almost always was guaranteed to have a dunk during games played last year. Like Amari Davis, Caleb used his length defensively to create turnovers and as a result, throw down multiple fast break dunks. Combining this athleticism plus his great shooting touch makes Caleb a target for several high major schools.
