Battle of the South Top Performers
HoopSeen, one of the premier online recruiting outlets in Georgia held the Battle of the South Showcase tournament in Cartersville, Georgia at Lake Point. This is one of the nation’s premier basketball facilities and nearly all of the top college basketball programs in the country flocked to see some of the best talent in the country. Here is a look at some of the top performers from the event.
One of the most heralded recruits since LeBron James, athletically Zion Williamson was on hand with his SC Supreme team. Williamson was matched against Nassir Little and his cast of 1Family out of Florida. Little is a 6-foot-7 wing with a college-ready body. He has interest and offers from Florida, St. John’s, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Arizona among others. The match-up didn’t disappoint. Both were able to get to the basket and used a variety of moves to score. High-flying dunks and athletic attacks to the rim were abundant.
I wad impressed with 6’8, 2019 forward Justin Lee with GA Stars. Long and athletic, Lee is a tremendous rebounder and gets good position to grab the board. He is skilled at the forward spot and possesses a nice mid-range game. He recently picked up a offer from Southeast Missouri State University. He plays his high school basketball at Collins Hill HS, coaches by former state-champion Ty Baumgardner while he was at Olympic HS near charlotte.
2019 big man DJ Burns was his regular self for Georgia Stars 16U team finishing with 12 points on some nice post moves and mid-range jumpers and putbacks. Burns is a skilled point man with solid footwork and an ability to score out to 15 feet. He does a good job of rebounding and securing the boards. He is playing his high school basketball with York Prep near Rock Hill, South Carolina on a loaded squad.
