UL Team Camp: Scouting Reports (Forwards)
2018
Chandler Owenby 6’8 St. Paul’s
Chandler played well, and filled his role pretty well as the second fiddle for St. Paul’s behind Parker Edwards. He defended the rim at an above average rate, and rebounded about the same. He showed that he has continued to work on his shot, as he knocked down some shots from behind the arc.
Devonte Allen 6’5 St. Paul’s
Allen is another player that has a clear role for his team and has plays it well. He rebounds at a very high rate, and I expect him to be the leading rebounder on his team next season. He was also able to put the ball on the floor a few times and get to the rim better than in the past.
Devaughn Thomas 6’7 Comeaux
Thomas is another Comeaux prospect that looks best in transition, but doesn’t get to show off that talent very often. Despite that, he has the ability to knock down from deep in the half-court, and had a few big dunks after games had gotten out of hand.
Seneca Knight 6’6 Northside
Seneca is a player that has shown up on our radar late, but he certainly deserves some attention. Despite his size, he plays mostly around the perimeter, and is one of the deadliest outside shooters in the state for his class. He also has long arms and an athletic frame that allows him to be a difference maker on both sides of the ball.
Braylon Chaisson 6’5 Carencro
Chaisson was one of the most impressive players of the camp, and showed why colleges are after him. He proved that his transition to the wing is complete, and that he is going to be a 3 at the next level. His shot from deep looked as accurate as anyone there, and his athleticism and motor looked as good as ever.
Jaden Edwards 6’8 Lafayette
Jaden is a big bodied center that has the size and strength to play at the next level. He has a solid set of post moves, but needs to continue to polish his play around the basket. Defensively he rebounds and protects the rim at a high level. He is also one of the most dominant dunkers of his class.
Jalen Perkins 6’6 Walker
Perkins is another player that continues to work his way up the rankings after a solid spring with New Orleans Basketball club. He is a bit undersized for the position he currently plays, but is transitioning more towards the wing. He definitely has the length and athleticism to play at the next level, and if he works hard for the next nine months, he will get the opportunity to play at the next level.
