Recruiting Report: Norris Williams (2019)
If you look at the stats from last season, there is an agument that can be made that 5’10 Norris Williams of Archbishop Hannan was one of the best players in all of the state. He averaged over 19PPG, 5RPG, and 3 APG. He lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. And he did all of this on a team that went 28-3. Regardless of the level of competition, those are some impressive stats for anyone, let alone just a sophomore. And he has shown during the spring and summer that he is more than capable of producing against better talent, as he has played well for LA Elite thus far. He says the biggest difference is that “ I have to score more for high school”
Williams has been working hard this offseason, in an attempt to lead his team to a championship. They fell a game short of the Top 28 last year, and he knows that he will need to step up even more in order for them to advance as far as he is hoping they will. “I’m just working on by defense, my jump shot and becoming more explosive.” He has been playing well for Archbishop Hannan over this summer, and as a result they have been winning games. They recently went 5-0 at the Episcopal (BR) team camp, playing against a lot of the same competition that stands between them and a state title. “I was killing. I had to get in my bag,” Williams says of his recent play.
Norris has been playing well for both his high school and AAU teams, and college coaches are starting to take notice. He recently picked up his first offer to Southeastern, and has been in contact with some pretty bigs schools recently. “I’ve been in contact with Alabama, Houston and LSU a little bit. I’ve been talking with Alabama the most recently. They are going to be coming to my games in July when we go to the Under Armour Finals.” He also says that he is looking for a school that is “going to help him prepare for life.” Norris has a 3.3 GPA and has yet to take the ACT.
