Recruiting Report: Gabe Kalscheur (2018)
DeLaSalle shooting guard Gabe Kalscheur has proved to be one of the best shooters in the EYBL this year. Kalscheur visited Minnesota on Monday and talked about his visit with NHR.
“The visit to Minnesota went really well,” Kalscheur said. “We went over to the new campus facility they are building and took a tour. One thing that stood out was the windows in the new basketball practice gym have a super cool view of Minneapolis.
“The coaches at Minnesota are super nice. I have a deep and trust worthy relationship with all of the coaches on the Minnesota staff. They are a bunch of great guys and coaches.”
This winter four rated Kalscheur helped DeLaSalle win their sixth straight Class AAA state title and it was the third he has been apart of. Kalscheur averaged 18.1 points per game as a junior along with 5.6 boards and 2.6 assists.
Gabe shot 46 percent from the floor this year taking 12-13 shots a game which included his near 37 percent from the arc on the 5-6 threes he took a night.
At 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds Gabe has increased those shooting percentages to 49 percent from the filed and 43.6 percent from the arc on his 11-12 shots taken per game (117 of his 174 attempts were at the arc) in the EYBL for Howard Pulley.
Gabe has averaged 17.7 points, a couple boards, and a couple assists in 15 games EYBL games.
Kalscheur was offered by Minnesota over a year ago and he was very excited by what he saw from Richard Pitino’s team this year.
“The Gopher season was really strong,” Gabe said. “They started strong and they ended strong.
“That is what I was looking at them to do, to start strong and end strong and they did (making the NCAA Tournament despite few expecting them to). That season really opened up my eyes as a good program and a good offer as a place for me to go.”
Gabe also has offers from Northern Iowa, Pittsburgh, Bowling Green, and North Dakota. He also previously mentioned that he’s heard from Colorado, Arkansas, and Princeton.
