Grassroots Team” 6th Man Warriors 16 & U.
CJ is a very versatile stretch 4/ 5 for his Bullis HS Bulldogs. He is playing this summer on the Grassroots Circuit for the 6th Man Warriors 16 & U Coached by former Maryland Terrapin Byron Mouton who started for 2002 National Champions Terps. While CJ can shoot he can play with is back to the basket and he says,”My go to moves in the post are my jump hook and a sky hook. I can do the drop step, and I am working on some more post moves this summer. Also, on offense I can pick and pop and my range on my shoot is expanding to the 3 point line.” This summer CJ is working at basketball 7 days a week and while he is a very good rebounder, CJ adds,” On defense I am very scrappy and go after loose balls in addition to blocking a few shots per game.” During the DeMatha summer league, CJ displayed excellent fundamentals and footwork, in addition to mixing it it up in he post.
I workout with weights my Trainer Darren McClinton (Springbok HS, JMU grad) and my Bullis HS Coach Kelley. I am focusing a lot o my leg & overall lower body strength so I can hold my position for a longer period in the post on offense and defense. I am doing some squats and dead lifts with very strict form and this is helping me great deal”. CJ add that his father (David) works with in helping improving his game. His mother ( Debbie) is very supportive and CJ adds, ” I look up to my parents as role models and my family is very close.”
In the classroom CJ carries a 3.9 GPA and he hopes to receive an offer from an Ivy League School. Additionally, he has interest from Delaware, Towson State, Coppin State and UMBC. He adds, There is a lot of sacrifice to balance my academics and basketball, but I know it is what is best for my family 7 myself”. At this time CJ is undecided on his college major, but he very well could be in the IVY League when decides which school to attend in 2 years.
