Prospect Spotlight: Joey Lee (2019)
Joey Lee, a class of 2019 point guard at W.T. Woodson, has made a significant impact for the Cavaliers during their impressive run at the BSN Summer League. A JV standout at Bishop Ireton last season, Lee will likely play a key role in his first season with Woodson.
“I’d say I’m a floor general who can control the pace of the game. I can also play on both sides of the ball and get to the rim,” Lee explained. “One thing I do that most people probably don’t see is I’m a good teammate and I communicate well with them.”
While he doesn’t have any experience at the varsity level, Lee is clearly an experienced guard capable of playing high level basketball. He has demonstrated the ability to make shots, defend, and get his teammates involved. Lee understands his weaknesses, and is working to improve them regularly.
“The most improved aspect of my game is creating my own shot off of the dribble, and my mid range jumper,” said Lee. “I need to work on my 3 point range next and shooting off the dribble from 3.”

Lee has been a standout with 16U 6th Man Warriors, Coached by former University of Maryland star Byron Mouton. No one is recruiting Lee at the moment, but he should start to see some interest this summer. He brings a 3.5 GPA with him to Woodson. What can Lee bring to a college program?
“I can bring leadership and a strong work ethic to a college program, and I can bring the best out of my teammates.”
