Memorial Day Takeover 2019 Scouting Part 2
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — We were in the gym all weekend checking out local teams at Memorial Day Takeover. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part two of our 2019 scouting report!
CASEY MORSELL | TEAM TAKEOVER
Casey Morsell once again played a key two way role for Team Takeover on their way to another championship. The 6’3 guard is a much improved ball handler, and has the ability to create his own shot. Morsell is a strong finisher through contact, and finishes from a variety of angles.
JASON MURPHY | TEAM MELO
Jason Murphy gives maximum effort each time he’s on the floor, and you can’t teach that. The 6’9 big man sets good screens, and does a nice job establishing position down low. Murphy also has a nice touch from the perimeter.
JALEN RUCKER | TEAM MELO
We liked how well Jalen Rucker broke down his man off the dribble and created consistent offense. Whether it was for himself or others. Rucker defends well. He is a very good shooter, both from the catch and off the dribble. For his size, he is also a very good finisher in the lane. Rucker demonstrates a strong skill set, and uses both hands well.
JOSH WATTS | TEAM TAKEOVER
Josh Watts continues to show signs of improvement. We saw him catch a nice put back dunk, but we were also impressed with his shot making ability. Watts is a high energy glue guy, and has good size and versatility at 6’4.
JALEN WILLIS | TEAM MELO
We absolutely love how well Jalen Willis plays defense, and his overall toughness on the floor. Willis comes to play each and every game, and doesn’t back down from anyone.
JAHMIR YOUNG | TEAM TAKEOVER
Jahmir Young is another player that continues to improve, and should see his recruitment pick up in the summer. The lefty likes to get down hill and attack the basket, where he is a good creator for himself and others. Young is sneaky athletic, and defends well both on and off the ball.
