Memorial Day Takeover 2018 Scouting Part 1
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — We were in the gym all weekend checking out local teams at Memorial Day Takeover. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2018 scouting report!
EMMANUEL AGHAYERE | TEAM TAKEOVER GREY
One word to describe Emmanuel Aghayere? Bruiser. Has long arms, and plays much bigger than his listed size. Aggressive in the paint, and doesn’t mind contact.
DOMENICK BAILEY | TEAM TAKEOVER GREY
Domenick Bailey led Team Takeover Grey to a huge win over Team Melo Red. The tough lead guard defends well, and scores from all three levels. He is a team player. Very unselfish, and knows how to get others involved.
MATT BECHT | TEAM TAKEOVER ORANGE
Sharpshooter Matt Becht lit up Team Melo Red for 13 first half points on 3 of 6 from downtown. Becht is a high IQ player on both ends of the floor, and knows how to sell contact well. The catch and shoot specialist moves well off the ball, and has a quick release on his jumper.
MIKE BROWN | ERICK GREEN PREMIERE
Mike Brown thoroughly impressed in a number of areas in a win vs. a tough Team Takeover Grey squad. Brown is a very good defender, and a facilitator of the offense. He lived in the lane, and finished well at the rim through contact.
JOSH CORNISH | TEAM MELO RED
We saw Josh Cornish put the ball in the hole from virtually everywhere on the floor this weekend. One thing we like about Cornish is he’s not just a catch and shoot guy, but he’s also very good at shooting off the dribble. Cornish is deceptively strong, and scored well through contact at the rim.
ELIJAH EPPS | TEAM MELO RED
Elijah Epps is a well built guard who can play several different positions. Epps mixes it up nicely on offense. He can score from three levels, and makes good decisions with the ball. On defense, he rebounds well from and can guard a few different positions.
BRAXTON FOREMAN | TEAM MELO RED
We’ve seen Braxton Foreman light teams up with his perimeter shooting before, and he did it again this weekend. The 6’5 wing displayed solid fundamentals and a high basketball IQ. Foreman is a hard nosed competitor, and a sneaky athlete.
TERRENCE GIBBONS | TEAM TAKEOVER ORANGE
Terrence Gibbons is a big body with some skill. The 6’7 forward can shoot from the perimeter, but is also very good with his back to the basket. Gibbons is a very good athlete who likes to get up and down in the open floor.
NIGEL HAUGHTON | TEAM MELO RED
Lefty Nigel Haughton is a smooth lead guard who can score it well from all three levels. Haughton used the middle areas of the floor well, and mixed it up from there with a series of floaters.
MEKHI HENDRICKS | ERICK GREEN PREMIERE
Mekhi Hendricks provided a nice scoring punch for EG Premiere in their win over TTO Grey. Hendricks finished well at the rim, and did so from a variety of angles.
