Louisiana Spring Stock Risers
2018:
Josh LeBlanc 6’6 F Madison Prep/LA Elite (UAA)
Josh has picked up as much steam on a national stage as anyone so far this spring, and will continue to pick up a ton of offers. He is now up to 20 offers from and is being courted by a ton of high major offers, after spending a lot of last spring/summer on the sideline with a foot injury.
Jared Butler 6’3 G Riverside/MEBO Elite (EYBL)
Butler is another player that has really improved his national stock after having to sit out last spring/summer with an ACL injury. He was recognized as one of the Breakout Performers after the Atlanta EYBL session, and has picked up offers to Alabama, Houston, Texas, and Wichita State over the spring.
Braylon Chaisson 6’5 F Carencro/6th Man (Adidas)
Chaisson is a player with a high motor and athleticism that in-state college coaches are beginning to recognize. He has played well with 6th Man over their Adidas sessions, and showed that he is fully comfortable playing on the wing at the next level. He has picked up offers to a handful of schools in state.
Calvin Adams 5’11 G Zachary/Stateline Raiders
Adams might not be getting the college attention he wants or deserves, but he has impressed as much as anyone in the state over the spring for the Stateline Raiders. There isn’t much on the court that Adams can’t do well, and I think that he is going to pick up some late interest as teams move towards narrowing down their recruiting efforts.
2019
Mylik Wilson 6’3 G Rayville/Arkansas Wings (EYBL)
Wilson is currently our top player for the 2019 class, but he wasn’t always thought of in that way heading into the spring. We knew that he was good, but I would be lying if I could have seen his EYBL performances coming. He averaged over 20 ppg and lead the Wings to a 10-2 record on the Nike Circuit. This caught Nike’s attention, and he recently competed at their Top 100 camp, which you can read more about here: https://prephoops.com/2017/06/nike-elite-100-2019-wing-scouting/
Kamren Davis 6’7 F Bossier/LA Elite (UAA)
Davis is another player that I knew was good heading into the spring, but I had no idea he would be this good. He has shown the skills and ability to play at the wing, and as well as the high motor he was known for. As a result, lots of big name schools have gotten involved in his recruitment, including Texas A&M and Kansas St.
Jacoby Decker 5’8 G Bossier/Louisiana Select Team Milsaps
Something tells me that Bossier is going to be pretty good for the next couple of years. Decker has been steadily improving his stock since the end of the season. I knew that he could score any time that he wanted, but he has shown the ability to facilitate at a higher rate than I was used to seeing with him. If he keeps passing as well as he has, and transitions to more of a point guard than a combo guard, the college coaches are going to come running soon.
