2018 Rankings Breakdown: Beltway Forwards Part 1
PrepHoops Maryland recently updated the class of 2018 player rankings. Getting a list of 100 players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was an extremely difficult challenge. With most of the list consisting of Division I prospects, there is no shortage of talent to go around.
The D.C. Metropolitan Area is known for breeding elite talent in the sport of basketball. The class of 2018 is no different. Here’s a look at part one of the Beltway forwards from the rankings.
ISAIAH MUCIUS | 6’7 F | SAINT JAMES/PSA CARDINALS | #4 OVERALL
Mucius has a wealth of raw talent, but is also a high level athlete. He is 6’7 with long arms, and a high work rate. Mucius can guard virtually any position on the floor, and protects the rim with pride. Mucius demonstrates an advanced offensive skill package. He can shoot it well from the perimeter, both off the dribble, and from the catch.
JERMAINE HARRIS | 6’10 F | ROCK CREEK CHRISTIAN/DC PREMIER | #7 OVERALL
Harris is a threat to score both with his back to the basket, and while facing it. He has three point range, but is best when seeking and finishing through contact in the lane. Harris gets to the foul line a lot, and converts from there at a high rate. He is also a big time rebounder with good hands, and a non-stop motor.
TYRESE SAMUEL | 6’9 F | RIVERDALE BAPTIST/UPLAY CANADA | #9 OVERALL
While Samuel is still clearly adjusting to the style of play in the states, he possesses an intriguing blend of size, skill, and athleticism. The 6’9 forward is very skilled, and is a good rebounder and rim protector.
BRYCE GOLDEN | 6’9 F | SAINT JAMES/TEAM TAKEOVER | #12 OVERALL
Golden is a strong, athletic forward who likes to run the floor and finish at the rim. He consistently plays above the rim, and is a high level rebounder on both ends of the floor. Golden has good hands, and exhibits solid fundamentals. He has a nice touch from the perimeter, and is always available for dump offs.
RICKY LINDO | 6’7 F | WOODROW WILSON/DC BLUE DEVILS | #20 OVERALL
Lindo is a skilled forward who can impact the game in many ways with his versatility. He is very good at hedging ball screens, and is quick enough to match up on a switch. Lindo is a strong rebounder with a high motor. He is constantly blocking, and altering shots at the rim. Lindo is still developing offensively, and has a ton of room for growth.
