Recruiting Report: Christian Stanislav (2019)
If there’s a short list of the state’s most under-recruited players, Glenwood’s 6-foot-4 shooting guard Christian Stanislav would certainly be included.
“I really haven’t had much recruitment yet, not very much action this summer,” said the sharpshooting junior-to be.
With some height and a high skill level, especially scoring the ball, Stanislav has proven himself to be one of 2019’s best prospects. He currently checks in at No.21 in our 2019 prospect rankings.
“I still see myself as a scorer. And I’ve really tried to work on my rebounding and just overall strength on the court, and defense also,” said Stanislav in a recent phone interview.
Last winter with the Rams, the sharpshooting sophomore averaged 15.8 points per game on one of 3A’s best teams.
“I was pleased with my sophomore year,” said Stanislav. “I was mainly a scorer, and that’s my main role on that team.”
This spring, for his 16U season, Stanislav has been primarily playing with Southwest Iowa Select, and even played one tournament with the Iowa Barnstormers as a fill-in.
“(Barnstormers coach) Greg (Stephens) called me and they were short a guy, Patrick McCaffery had an injury, so I played at Spiece with them,” said Stanislav. “I’m hoping in the future, I have more of a chance to play with them.”
The plan for now is to continue and play with Southwest Iowa Select this summer, and he’ll work out plenty on his own too.
“Of course, I’m still working on my rebounding and defense, and I’ve been trying to get in the weight-room as much as I can, I find that important,” said Stanislav.
“I’m going to work with former Creighton point guard Ryan Sears, and it’ll be fun working with him a little bit this summer.”
