WNC & Piedmont Division Two Prospects
I am with the belief that some Division II or III players can play at the Division I level, the amount of hard work and overall skill level that it takes to play at the Division III or II level is beyond belief. Have you ever been to a college game of that level? You would be surprised at the amount of skill and fundamentals those players have.
In this article we are taking a look at some of the Division II level prospects in the WNC & Piedmont region of North Carolina.
Ryan Moon (6’1, 2018)-Moon is a high academic student, he is a heady point guard that is great coming off ball screens. He played last season for the NC Spartans and helped lead them to two AAU tournament championships as a 16-year old and should have another great season this year.
Maverick LaRue (6’4, 2018)-Another NC Spartan organization player that has a great stroke from deep, excellent at catching and facing on the wing. At 6-foot-4, he is long with a lengthy frame. He has a high basketball IQ and is the son of former Chicago Bull Rusty LaRue.
Luke Cartwright (6’7, 2017)-Unsigned senior has interest from a couple D2’s and a lot of D3’s. 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds, he is a big body and a good athlete. He is strong and finishes at the rim.
Justin Matthews (5’11, 2018)-Skilled point guard, puts teammates in great position to score the basketball. Has a high basketball IQ. Plays at Eastern Guilford HS.
Deland Thomas (6’1, 2018)-The Rosman HS Tiger is a workhorse, he will do whatever it takes to win, he can shoot the ball very well, strong guard that does not back away from any challenge.
Chris Hemphill (6’5, 2018)-Very strong guard, he will find a way to get to the free-throw line, can pass the ball well for his size and position.
