Top Unsigned Seniors in WNC
Two of WNC’s top unsigned seniors are Trey Irby from Asheville HS and Markese Lynch of North Henderson HS.
A lot of the players in this area get swept under the mat this late in the year as graduation seniors who are unsigned. Irby and Lynch would provide a college basketball team with athleticism that is unparalleled in this area.
Trey IrbyIrby is a ultra-athletic wing who can play both guard positions. He was named to the All-MAC conference team and was a selection to the Blue-White All-Star Game. During his senior season at Asheville HS, Irby averaged 17 points per game and is playing well this spring with Rise Up Basketball. Irby is also strong in the classroom and could probably walk-on most low-major Division One programs.
Lynch is a long and athletic wing at 6-foot-4. He was named to the All-Conference team and helped North Henderson HS to one of their best seasons in school history. With 28 wins, the Knights advanced to the 3rd round of the NCHSAA playoffs before falling to Hickory HS and legendary coach Andy Poplin who also coaches Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit.
At North Henderson, Lynch teamed up with USC-Upstate signee Austin Nelson to form one of the best tandems in WNC. He is long, has great leaping ability and can score out to 18-feet with a pure jumper.
Irby and Lynch have both been receiving interest from local program Brevard College. Irby has received interest from Toccoa Falls College and Winston-Salem State University.
