Charlotte has long been the Mecca of basketball in The Hoop State. People can say what they want about other towns around North Carolina but no city produces more NBA & college ready players in the state than Charlotte. The rising sophomore class in the city named after Queen Charlotte is on track to be another good one and PrepHoopsNC takes a look at some of the promising prospects.
Jaden Springer- According to many recruiting experts, Springer is a top-20 national prospect. He played this past season at Rocky River HS under head coach Jermaine Walker where he was one of the most promising players regardless of class in the city. He is long, come from a basketball bloodline, understands the game and has a high basketball IQ.
Tristan Maxwell-The son of Vernon Maxwell, a NBa player in his own right with the Houston Rockets organization for nearly a decade. The younger Maxwell has the pedigree and Game to go with it. He has the ability to score in bunches and can attack the defense with a tight handle and quickness.
Ford Cooper-Just like his name, Ford has a high octane motor. He spent the past season playing with Carmel Christian and former NBA draft pick Byron Dinkins. He is blessed with a great natural feel for the game, great frame with good length. He has a great basketball IQ and skill set that will translate over to the college game. He has a nice release on his shot and can knock them down from anywhere on the floor.
Josh Banks-Olympic High School is one of the thoroughbreds in Mecklenburg County, winning the state title in 2013. The next Trojan in line is Josh Banks. He has a great feel for the game and knows how to score in bunches. He is a long wing at 6’4 and has a nice handle at his age. Will be a name you hear more about this upcoming season.
