Stock Riser: Trey McGowens
In his first experience with playing on the Nike EYBL circuit, 2018 guard Trey McGowens is showing that he belongs in one of the highest levels of travel basketball.
Playing with Charlotte based Team United, McGowens has steadily improved his stock as a mid-major to high-major talent. Playing against the best competition every weekend, McGowens has put up competitive overall numbers every game.
An ultra-athletic scoring guard with size (6-foot-3), McGowens has a knack for bringing his best for some of the more high Profile games. He helped lead Wren High School to the state championship game of the SCHSL this past high school season.
He has almost twenty offers from across the country and is lately been hearing from The University of South Florida. “I talked with UGA last night. And the coach for Cincinnati told my coach he loved my game so I should be hearing from him soon. Also ETSU wants me to visit.”
Among the schools that have offered McGwowens are Western Carolina, Towson, Arkansas State, Charlotte, William & Mary, Mercer, Wofford, Tennessee Tech, Elon and Southern Miss to name a few
While Team United has gone win-less so far in the EYBL, McGowens has been some what of a bright spot on the team. Known for his high-flying game, he can also make the mid-range jump shot and can score off the dribble.
With a strong finish to the EYBL over the next two months, Trey Mac should solidify his name with high-major programs who are looking for a athletic scoring guard.
