Stock Riser Report: Jackson Gammons (2019)
There are a lot of things that can be taught to a younger person that wants to be a basketball player, we see it every day with youngsters in the gym working on skill work with their parent or trainer. However there are certain things that are God given, such as height and natural muscle build, etc. Another trait that can’t necessarily be taught is toughness, and that is what you see as soon as you watch Guard Jackson Gammons of Team Felton and Calvary Day School. Last weekend I got the opportunity to get a closer look at Jackson against some very good competition and was impressed.
What makes him special?
First and foremost what I liked about Jackson was his toughness as stated earlier, he’s the type of player that can play through any type of injury and physical without altering his game. Throughout the tournament he got inside the paint whenever he wanted, no matter how big the opponents were he remained productive. Another attribute he displayed was an ability to score the ball from multiple spots at a consistent rate, he knocked down shots from mid and deep. On the defensive end of the floor he really gets after it, he applies constant pressure and causing turnovers without committing fouls. Last but not least is his communication with coaches and with his teammates, he always stays positive regardless of the situation.
Stock on the Rise
Speaking with his HS coach at Calvary Day School, he lets us know that he just as good of a student in the classroom as he is a player on the court. Numerous D1 programs are interested in him and have let his high school coach know that they will be giving him a call once the NCAA allows it in June. As his H.S coach stated ‘‘ He’s like a high school version of Aaron Craft , so don’t be surprised if you see Ohio State take a look at him eventually as well.’’
