Signing Day For Tyler Maye
On Monday we found out that the state’s top unsigned senior will be officially signing with the college of his choice on Wednesday at Farmville Central HS. Of course the next question that is asked, where will he go? Personally I don’t like to make predictions about where youngsters will attend school but instead letting them have their day to announce their decision. Regardless Tyler Maye has a lot of good options to choose from, so let’s look at a few options that Tyler will have on signing day.
East Carolina University
ECU was a school that Tyler seem to be very interested in attending, due to the fact that they are right in his backyard, it was somewhat strange that they took as long as they did to offer him a scholarship. However for The Pirates if they were to get Maye that would help them in a major way scoring the ball from the PG spot.
Virginia Commonwealth University
VCU is a program that is very rich in basketball tradition, initially before their coaching change they had a commitment from ESPN Top 100 PG Lavar Batts who eventually picked NC State. With Batts heading to Raleigh the hole for a really good guard opened up and Maye could step right in and fill that void with his ability to score the ball and run a team. He recently took a visit to VCU and it seems as if he was impressed with the campus as well as the positive direction of the program.
UNC-Charlotte
If you like bright lights then a city like Charlotte is definitely a place that you have to consider, it’s one of the places in the region that has a lot going on and young people love it. With that being said the basketball program at UNCC is on the rise just as much as the city and Maye has already taken a visit to see what the 49ers have to offer. With the transfer out of Guard Quentin Jackson Jr and some other moving pieces, Maye would be a player that could come in and contribute right away.
Other schools that have offered Maye are: Winthrop, Western Carolina, New Hampshire, Kennesaw State, Kansas State, High Point and Nebraska.
