Recruiting Report : Greg Gantt (2019)
School: Trinity Christian
AAU: Team Felton
Height: 6’7
Position: Forward
It was only a matter of time for Greg Gantt before his recruitment began to blow up, it’s been frustrating process for the youngster without a doubt but he’s handled it with class and patience. The youngster that hails originally from Jacksonville, NC is full of talent and plays the game with a chip on his shoulder due to the fact of being overlooked and underappreciated. Playing on the loaded Trinity Christian roster he sometimes got overlooked, During the AAU season playing with a stacked Team Felton squad he got overlooked but the talent was easy to see. Throughout the season he put together quite a few impressive performances scoring and rebounding the ball, he has a very long wingspan to go along with his 6’7 height. What really gets overlooked by many is how versatile a player Greg is, he can shoot the ball from deep, rebounds it well, defends multiple positions and finish above the rim.
A huge reason that I’ve become a believer in Greg is due to the fact that his work ethic has improved each and every offseason. You can see constant videos of Greg in the gym with other star athletes in the area such as: Joey Baker, Jordan Ratliffe and many other players. Without a doubt the hard work has paid off as Campbell University and DePaul offered this week to add on with the offers he holds from Hampton and Grambling State. As Greg stated ‘‘It’s a great feeling and I will keep working hard, I know that hard work pays off.’’
Only time will tell where he will end up but I wouldn’t be surprised to see schools like Cincinnati jumping on board as he can bring the physical play inside and out. One thing we do know about him is he knows how to: play on a team with other talented player, play against high level competition on a regular basis and that he can be coached.
