Recruiting Report: Cedric Anderson (2018)
Two sport East Feliciana standout Cedric Anderson is certainly one of Louisiana’s best hoopsters, but it seems it’ll be football that he pursues at the next level.
The 6-foot-4 wing also happens to be one of the state’s best wide-receivers and defensive backs, and college programs have taken notice.
“I haven’t really been getting that much attention for basketball, mostly just football. I don’t really have a preference between the two, but as of right now it looks like I’ll play football at the next level, because that’s where I’m getting the most attention,” said Anderson.
He currently sports offers from Southern, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Jackson State and Nicholls State; and he says Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and Delta State are showing interest.
Though no hoops interest is coming in — likely because schools know of his football prowess — Anderson says he’d consider playing basketball in college; or even both sports.
“I would love to consider playing basketball at the next level, that was the first thing I did growing up,” he said. “I’ve thought about (playing both sports) a lot, but I haven’t really talked with any coaches about it yet.”
A big wing with a diverse skill-set, Anderson explained to PHLA what his playing style is on the hardwood.
“My strengths are shooting the ball and cutting, also on defense I block shots and defend, and I bring a lot of energy,” he said.
“I’m working on ball-handling a lot, and driving a little.”
After a successful junior season with the Tigers, in which he averaged 19.7 points per game, he’s spending his spring and summer — in addition to working on football — with Stateline Raiders 17U.
“It’s been going pretty well. We won one tournament and got second in the other,” he said. “And my role is about the same as in high school; score the ball and rebound.”
