Recruiting Report: CaRondis Harris-Anderson (2018)
Big and athletic with an improving skill-set, Waterloo West’s 6-foot-4 guard CaRondis Harris-Anderson is starting to see his recruitment pick up a bit.
The Martin Brothers product has been producing greatly this spring on one of the state’s best grassroots teams, and several schools have taken notice.
“I’ve heard a little bit from Upper Iowa and a college in Michigan, Northwood. And I’ve still just been getting letters from Northern Iowa, and that’s it,” said Harris-Anderson.
“Northwood and Upper Iowa have been both calling and texting.”
Just yesterday, he received a phone call from Division I program North Dakota State, and took one step closer to his ultimate goal of playing Division I basketball.
“Of course, I want to play Division I, but I’m not really focusing on that,” said Harris-Anderson. “I’m going to focus on that during my senior year.”
A high-riser with a penchant for making tough shots, Harris-Anderson has been working plenty the past year on his jumper, and says he’s seen plenty of improvement.
“I’ve been doing a lot of work on my shooting, being a better leader for my team, a lot on my ball-handling and defense. I have seen improvements in my shooting percentages, my jump-shot looks much better and is more fluid, and my body better,” said Harris-Anderson, who averaged 18.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a junior with the Wahawks.
“I feel like this season I was more involved in the offense, and I was the leader of the team this year. I like the role of being team captain, it challenges me with the role to get everybody else better and get everybody engaged.”
Midway through his 17U season, Harris-Anderson has established himself as one of the main producers with the Martin Brothers’ eldest squad.
“This summer I expect to get better than I was last year; I’m just focused on getting better,” said Harris-Anderson.
“I hope I get a better body; get taller, stronger faster. I want to get mentally tougher, be a better leader. I’m going to work on everything, my defense, my rebounding, just everything.”
