Prospect Spotlight: Noah Slagter (2018)
Noah Slagter is one of the top scorers in the 2018 class and keyed what was a strong bounceback season for the Willmar Cardinals.
Slagter averaged 22 points, 7.7 rebounds and three assists per game as a junior at Willmar and he’s spending the AAU season playing with the SW Minnesota Stars.
“The season has been going pretty well so far,” said Slagter. “My teammates are awesome and I love being able to spend time with them. Our main motto on the team is defense. We try to get the opponents to take tough shots or turn it over so we can get out in transition. Our big thing we need to work on is communication I would have say. What I love most about the program is the coaches and how much they care about me as a person. They want to help you on the basketball court and off the court as well.”
Slagter can score from all levels on the floor but he’s particularly effective as a slasher and mid-range scorer. He’s got great anticipation skills on the defensive end which helps me pick up steals and prevent dribble penetration.
Slagter’s emerged a solid college basketball prospet and has drawn his share of interest already.
“I have had some schools talking to me,” said Slagter. “University of Sioux Falls, Northwestern (Iowa), Dordt, Briar Cliff, St.Johns and Northwestern St.Paul are some of the colleges that have been showing interest. Mostly NAIA and D3 schools but a couple D2.”
