Prospect Spotlight: Jack Peterson (2019)
Two weekend’s ago at Midwest Live! in Council Bluffs, Sioux City East 6-foot guard Jack Peterson was one of the better surprises we saw.
He was playing in a grade level below his own, but the sophomore was still as impressive as any other guard we saw from Iowa at the tournament that day.
With a nice awareness and a smooth game, he was the best player on a good Sioux City Bombers team. Peterson defined what it is that makes him such a great talent.
“I just play the hardest I can and help the team as much as I can. I take the best shots and make the right passes and try not to force anything,” said Peterson. “And I’m working on my ball-handling and looking ahead more.”
As a sophomore with the Black Raiders, Peterson came off the bench, and averaged 3.2 points per game.
“It was really fun, they just needed me to bring energy off the bench, give my best effort and to play smart,” said Peterson. “I thought I played OK, I could have played better. Next year I just want to be a team player and make better decisions.”
He’ll continue to play with Sioux City Bombers the rest of the summer, and says the objective is to improve himself and make his teammates better.
And if the recruitment doesn’t come, he’s OK with that. Just a sophomore, he’s got plenty of time for that to materialize.
“We just want to win as many games as we can, improve, play as a team and help the other guys on the team improve also,” said Peterson.
“And I’m hoping for it (recruitment), and I’ll just give my best effort and see what happens.”
